Why Practice Zazen?

Stress Management through Zazen Meditation.
This physician prescribed stress management technique is the practice of disciplined breathing and posture. There are no difficult or painful positions necessary, and participants can comfortably practice in any type of clothing. The immediate benefits of the practice of Zazen are:

  • A reduction in stress.
  • A reduction in mental fatigue.
  • An increase in mental discipline.
  • An increase in physical discipline.
  • Oxygenation of the body.
  • Lower blood pressure in some practitioners.
While commonly associated with Zen studies, Zazen with M.L. Cerpok is led as a simple breathing discipline. Sensei Cerpok's sessions often conclude with a question and answer period whereby the practitioner is able to examine some of the random thoughts that surface during their breathing exercise. This practice has proven to enhance mental and physical health, create a more positive work and home environment, and increase individual productivity.

Kappo Restoration Therapy

Hundreds of years ago in Japan, old men who had practiced martial arts all their lives were respected by the population in general, and their students in particular, for two distinctly different reasons. Obviously, people lived in awe of their ability to harm or kill others. A fact that is not commonly known, though, is that well-developed martial artists placed as much value on healing and resuscitation arts as they did on combative techniques. These arts, known as katsu or kappo, gave the practitioner the ability to restart someone's heart, resume breathing that had stopped, or treat other injuries, such as nosebleeds and testicle blows. These tactics were a natural outgrowth of martial arts practice where the need to reverse techniques was commonplace. These abilities, coupled with bone-setting and other healing arts, earned the old martial artists as much, or more, respect as their martial abilities.

Kappo Restoration Therapy is a blend of acupressure and massage. Kappo can be performed while the recipient remains fully clothed in loose fitting clothing, or the recipient may choose to experience the incredible relaxation of Kappo when oils are employed. In either case, Kappo with Sensei Cerpok is unlike anything you have ever felt before!
